All of sudden, things are poppin’ for my RPM 08 album. I’ve started all but two songs at this point. Now that I have a number of songs complete or near completion the album is really starting to gel. Stepping back for a moment from each individual track I can now hear that my plan for a cohesive sound is coming to fruition. There may still be an oddball track in the mix, but I can live with that based in the results so far.

The song that I completed tonight is the lead in track, Heatshield. I had already started a track to fill this spot, but was unhappy with how it felt compared to what I was going for. Luckily this evening as I was driving home from work I was humming little ditties to myself and stumbled across a bassline that I knew would be a better basis for Heatshield. The original track number 1 has now been relegated to track 4, Orbiter, where it has a better fit.
